If you’re just joining us you may want to read the “How to set up a co-op preschool” post I wrote last week.  Each week I’ll be sharing ideas for introducing your preschoolers to the letters of the alphabet.  Not all of these ideas will work for everyone.  As the year goes on, you’ll figure out what works for your group of kids.  Here’s some ideas for the Letter A.

A is for APPLES!

Field Trip Idea:

We love apples.  We went to a pick your own apple place.  We were going to get to see the apple orchard, the farm equipment, etc.  However, there was some miscommunication between us and the farm.   Turns out, they didn’t want preschoolers and babies in the orchard.   So, if want to do this, I’d suggest you call the orchard and find out what’s available for a preschool group with x number of kids and x parents.   What’s can you expect and what’s the cost?   It was disappointing to the kids that they didn’t get to pick apples.

Apple Tasting

If you’re starting your preschool in September, that’s the perfect month to check out a variety of apples.  You can buy 1 of several different types of apples and let the kids taste each kind.  Talk about how the apples are the same and different.  They make some fun comparisons.
